Description
Conveniently located in the depths of my basement, I can assure you I am not associated with the inhabitants. I can only say that whenever the door is open, I close it, but it always ends up open again. I've also found it strange that small animals seem to be drawn to this entrance, but they never enter.

"Inquire Next Door" -- that's what the sign says at 22 Ionia Street. But I was afraid to knock.

I climbed the stairs. I tried the door.

I cannot say what happened after that.

When I took this picture, there were no lights inside the Entrance. But looking at it now, there they are.

Description
You can see that there is no door handle on the outside, so that means someone gets to choose who comes in and out. Also, take a look at the eery white glow on the door. There's also the heat emaninating from the door that melts the snow around it. And if you've ever stepped through the door and returned from hell, like I have, you would know that to enter through that door truly brings you to hell.

Since I took this photo at the corner of Mason Street and Trowbridge, this particular Entrance has been razed. This is one of many that have been destroyed in recent months. It appears that someone in town is slowly wiping out Entrances. Or moving them.

In the building where I work, there's this little door under the stairs. It's maybe four feet tall and it's always locked, never open.

When they come to visit, my children run up the stairs very quickly when they pass the door. Sometimes, if it's at night and the building is dark, the ask to use the elevator instead.

Description: On College Avenue, between Hall and Franklin. It's unclear as to whether or not the ivy is slowly consuming this Entrance, or revealing it.

They've been doing some major construction in my church. This door suddenly appeared one recent Sunday. Oddly enough, there's nothing on the other site of the door. Just a blank wall.

On the Fourth of July, they open up access to the roof to let people sit and watch fireworks in the evening. One year, I went along.

Despite the sweltering heat, the door to this Entrance was ice cold and laced with frost.

Description
This stairwell is located on the Northern side of the building that houses the bar/pub Cambridge House. The door is always locked and, when I inquired about what was under the building, Tim (the bartender) just stared at me and said "Only the basement. But no one ever goes down there."

"Never?"

He looked away. "Not since last time."

Wandering the backstreets one Sunday afternoon, I passed all manner of evil doings . . . but it was this Entrance that caught my eye. I wrote the name of my nearest enemy and slipped it through the mail slot, just in case. This Entrance is off of Madison Street. If you can find it, you can do likewise.

I found this entrance during a visit to the old Douglas Brothers warehouse on Division Avenue. I climbed the stairs on the right, so I know where they lead. I didn't have the courage to try the red elevator on the left, but I think I know where it goes.

On College Aveue near Fountain Street, there's a schoolyard where no children ever play. Windows facing the playground have this warning taped up from the inside: "Stay Away From The Windows..."

The blinds are pulled, I can't see in. But I assume that whoever put the message up had a very good reason.

Description
At the backside of Mason and Monroe Street, on the Northwest side of town. This building stands behind the one where I used to work.

One evening, I sat in my car and watched seven crows fly into what was quite obviously a boarded up window -- although it occurs to me now that it may have only been one crow, flying in seven times.

These days, I keep my head down when I walk through the parking lot.

All windows on this unmarked, unlabeled building have been long boarded up. the only window is on the locked door, which has blinds pulled behind it. Notice also the spot on the wall where the paint is peeling, revealing a deep red which, I imagine, once covered most of the building.

A nice, little midwestern city. But the niceness is like a veneer, a mask over what's rotting away underneath . . . like the skin on a glass of milk gone sour. You can see this Entrance from Commerce Street, just off of Fulton Avenue -- on the off chance you're looking for something to do on a Friday night.

I would say that it's situated uncomfortably between an elementary school and cemetery on the northwest side of town near Leonard and Walker Ave. The entrance itself is only about 4 feet high, which I find disturbing.
